Fashion Show at Fridays

Fridays Boracay had its yearly Staff Christmas Party December 2007 on the beach front of the resort. Attended by the Board of Directors and Guest judges, more than 100 employees gathered together in their best Haute Couture / Hollywood costumes.

This year, aside from the usual raffle draws, gift exchange and team presentations as per theme (“rock or pop bands”), Mr. Philippe Bartholomi came up with a new twist and fashion show concept which really rocked the house.

"Fashion Show at Fridays Boracay" – who would thought that every department of the resort would come up with creative and unique ideas on their costumes using any materials equipment that best represent their departments?! The employees-turned-models walked on the runway boasting their department's creations:

The Engineering Department used all their resources even the electricity! Their engineer-turned female model, together with an electro-mechanical staff & building and grounds staff, walked on the runway with:

Head dress – made of net which was secured by a screw driver
Necklace – 1 inch concrete nail tied on his neck
Earrings – made of hook and eye attached to a ½ of pvc strip
Bracelet – hinges and screw were fastened to a 2 inches diameter of pvc
Upper portion – made of the planing residue of good lumber
Breasts – made of 5 watts of light bulb
Dress below – bamboo strips sewn together
Fan – made of rake

This department has proved that guys are indeed fashionable in their own right!

Using solely their old guest cheques, the Accounting Department showed their fashion sense as they have created an 80's inspired costume. At first glance, everyone thought they were wearing real gowns and suits. But lo and behold! They were expertly sewn made of old guest cheques. Their costume certainly was worth millions!

The Front Office pleased the audience with their "Match in Heaven" couple. Miles wore an elegant white gown made of white plastic bags paired with a belt made of Mentos wrappers. Rey proudly modeled his vest made of bond paper and yarn with pants made of the Decleor spa wrap.

The Dining Department surprised the audience with their metallic and futuristic creation as their two models do their thing on the catwalk. Made of soft drinks cans, jams, milk cartons and nylon, their female model wore a tube with a long skirt while their male model wore a vest with matching pants.

The Kitchen Department made the crowd go wild as their Chefs do a yummy parade on the catwalk. Vivian, the Larder Chef, stride down with a 7-kilo Baguio lettuce on her skirt, pastas and cherry tomatoes as accents plus accessories made of cherry tomatoes and strawberries. As fresh as his outfit, the Breakfast Chef, Jonathan, got the most scream from the audience especially from the girls as he showed off his muscles on a skirt made of aubergines, necklace made of chili pepper, bracelet made of local lemons and a toque made of pumpkin with carrots and strawberries. The girls, the guys and the gays, got crazier when he started cutting off his aubergines right in front of the judges' table!

The Housekeeping Department didn't bulge with the huge scream that both the Kitchen and Dining Departments got. With all grace, they stride down the stage with a classy costume made of the island's most famous cloth, "sinamay", and "abaca". The models came complete with their head dress, bow tie, bag and shoes.

The judges had a hard time choosing the winners as everyone did a great tremendous job! But at the end, the Kitchen as the second placer and the Dining as the first placer won, making F&B department as the champions of the night!

Despite of the rain which graced the party, employees stayed and enjoyed the party to the fullest. Everyone agrees this year is the best staff Christmas party that they had!
